Read Away Your Fines (2018)

Read Away Your Fines

Friday, July 13, 3:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Tuesday, July 17, 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
Updated with additional date:
Tuesday, August 7, 12:00 - 6:00

We want to encourage children to read throughout the summer and realize some children are not able to check out books due to excessive fines.  We are offering a "Read Away Your Fines" program this summer to allow children and teens to reduce their fines and be able to check out books again.
  • Read Away Your Fines is for children and teens - under 18 or 12th grade and under.
  • $5 of fines will be waived for every 30 minutes they read during a Read Away Your Fines event.
  • Only fines will be waived.  Lost or damaged items will still need to be paid for.
  • Youth can read to themselves or parents/adults can read to children; any reading counts.
  • The reading must be done in the library during designated Read Away Your Fines times.
Read Away Your Fines is scheduled for Friday, July 13 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. and Tuesday, July 20 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.  You can come at any time during those times and stay as long as you'd like.

If you plan to come, please sign up here.  Registration is NOT required, but will help us know how many people to expect.

We may schedule additional sessions.  If you are interested in Reading Away Your Fines and can not attend either of our scheduled times, please let us know here and we'll contact you with additional dates.
