Read Away Your Fines



We are offering a "Read Away Your Fines" program to help youth with fines have the opportunity to reduce their fines and be able to check out books.

Children and teens can read away their fines during the following times:
Monday, January 20, 10:00 - 8:00
Tuesday, January 21, 3:00 - 8:00
Friday, January 31, 3:00 - 6:00
Stop by the library during any of those times and check in at the circulation desk to get started.

If you can't come during any of those times, please let us know and we'll arrange a time that will work for you.

Details:

  • This program is for youth - under 18 or 12th grade and under.
  • $5 will be waived for every 30 minutes they read
  • Only fines will be waived.  Lost and damaged items will still need to be paid for.
  • Youth can read to themselves or parents/adults can read to children; any reading counts.
  • The reading must be done in the library during designated Read Away Your Fines times.

Read Away Your Fines




We recognize the importance of reading throughout the summer and want all children and teens to be able to check out books and read this summer.

We are offering a "Read Away Your Fines" program to help youth with fines have the opportunity to reduce their fines and be able to check out books.

Children and teens can read away their fines during the following times:
Saturday, July 6, 10:00-2 :00
Thursday, July 11, 12:00-4:00
Friday July 12, 12:00-5:00
Tuesday July 16, 5:00-8:00
Stop by the library during any of those times and ask check in at the circulation desk to get started.

If you can't come during any of those times, please let us know and we'll arrange a time that will work for you.

We want to encourage children to read throughout the summer and realize some children are not able to check out books due to excessive fines.  We are offering a "Read Away Your Fines" program this summer to allow children and teens to reduce their fines and be able to check out books again.
  • Read Away Your Fines is for children and teens - under 18 or 12th grade and under.
  • $5 of fines will be waived for every 30 minutes they read during a Read Away Your Fines event.
  • Only fines will be waived.  Lost or damaged items will still need to be paid for.
  • Youth can read to themselves or parents/adults can read to children; any reading counts.
  • The reading must be done in the library during designated Read Away Your Fines times.
Read Away Your Fines is scheduled for Friday, July 13 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. and Tuesday, July 20 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.  You can come at any time during those times and stay as long as you'd like.

We may schedule additional sessions.  If you are interested in Reading Away Your Fines and can not attend either of our scheduled times, please let us know here and we'll contact you with additional dates.
